Run-commuting is brilliant. You’ll log some extra miles, de-clutter your mind before getting into the office, and save money. What’s not to love?
To help you reap the benefits of ‘run-commuting’, here are 4 tips that all run-commuters should know.
1. Prepare the night before
Getting started is the hardest part of any run. To help you get out on the road, prepare your things the night before. Get your trainers ready, lay out your kit and prep your lunch. By prepping everything the night before, you’ll be much less likely to give the run a miss at the last minute.
2. Invest in a good rucksack
A well-fitting backpack that won’t bounce around or rub whilst you run is a must for any run-commuter. Invest in a bag that fits tightly to your back and has straps so the bag, and its contents, stay in place as you commute.
3. Find changing facilities
Ideally, all workplaces would have showers and changing facilities. But realistically, this is not always possible. If your workplace is lacking showers, try signing up to a nearby gym or pool, and make the most of their facilities. Worst case scenario, invest in products to help you freshen up, such as dry shampoo and dry shower body wash.
4. Build up to your full commute
If the distance to your workplace seems daunting to run-commute, fear not. Get started by splitting the journey – take public transport part way and then run the rest.
There are numerous benefits of running to work but it can be hard to motivate yourself to get out. To help you get started, here are 4 top tips to help you start out on your run-commuting journey.
