Sebby's Cafe-Deli is a cosy cafe located at the far end of Headingley. It is a great place to share a coffee with friends, grab a quick and tasty lunch or relax on a summers afternoon with a slice of homemade cake and cold drink. We also love to work in Sebby's when we need a change of scenery - you can read about that in our previous article.

Recently, Sebby's started hosting events, helping them to become actively involved in the community and integrate into the area. For us, testing out authentic Italian street food from Luigi's kitchen take over was a highlight!

Sebby's has broken new ground and started a weekly event - a vegan buffet, which will be on every Thursday evening between 5-8pm. We attended the first ever buffet tonight, and were not dissapointed! For just £10 we were offered a drink, and a selection of tasty dishes including mac n cheese, bean chilli, and truffle fries. You can check out the menu here.

We started by filling our bowls with salads. I loved the roasted sweet potatoes, the creamy potato salad and of course the truffle fries were a hit with us.

And for mains we opted to try both dishes on offer: macaroni cheese with salad and garlic bread, and bean chilli with rice and salsa. We really enjoyed the carbtastic mac n cheese which was creamy and richly cheesey (as you'd expect from the traditional dish). The garlic bread was buttery on the inside, and crunchy on the outside - fab for mopping up the last bits of cheesey sauce.

The bean chilli was homely with lots of yummy chunky veg. The portion was generous and filled us up nicely. Although we enjoyed the dish, we thought it was missing a little something, as we are used to the richness of a meat chilli. But that could just be us, and I would still recommend the dish since it was fresh and light - great for a summers evening, and the rice was well cooked - which isn't always a given.

To finish, we had the choice between two dishes. However, as we like to give everything a go, we ordered both! The dishes were a chocolate chip ice cream sandwich, and a fruit pot with coconut yogurt. I loved the crunch of the cookie (which kept a chewy core), and the creamy ice cream sandwich. The fruit pot was refreshing, but for me, fruit is never a complete dessert. Combining the two desserts was fab, and finished the meal off perfectly.

Overall, Sebby's vegan buffet was really lovely. The food was all well cooked and tasty. Highlights for me were the truffle fries, the mac n cheese and the ice cream sandwich. I am looking forward to heading to the buffet again so I can try more dishes. I also really enjoyed the meal because It felt like going home for dinner, just with everything presented much more prettily. The cosy setting was perfect for the meal, and the waitresses, as always were friendly and helpful.

Try the vegan buffet out next Thursday (5pm - 8pm). Let us know what you think by commenting below, or by getting social with us on Instagram or Twitter.
