Housed in the uber cool Assembly Underground, Slap and Pickle serves brilliant burgers and fully loaded fries that will leave your tummy full and put a smile on your face. Quality ingredients cooked well, with tasty sauces and friendly service, you won't be dissapointed.
The Slap and Pickle microdiner in Assembly Underground offers burgers for meat eaters, veggies and vegans alike. You can choose which patty you fancy, and then Slap and Pickle do the rest. The well trained and super friendly staff add the salad, the pickes and the sauce and then carefully encase everything in a soft brioche bun.

To get a feel for the Slap and Pickle menu we opted to try a meaty and a veggie burger. The veggie option we option for was the personal cheese-us. This burger featured two bean patties (which are made from ancient grains, and were flavorful, crispy and surprisingly yummy), a layer of cheese (could have done with a little bit more, but that is a personal preference), crunchy pickles and a delicious burger sauce. The brioche bun was fresh and tasty, but got a little soggy during the meal. Not a problem if you don't mind a little mess, but perhaps toasting it before putting the burger together could have helped.

It would be rude not to try the Baconator. This epic burger features two beef patties (hand made using Yorkshire beef), metly cheese, bacon, burger sauce, pickles and salad. The patties were well cooked and juicy with cheese melting over the top, the bacon was slightly crispy and added a yummy saltiness, the pickles (although we appreciate are an aquired taste) added some crunchy freshness, and the sauce tied everything together. Again the buns got a bit soggy, but this didn't detract from the flavour of the bun or enjoyment of the eating, and it is nothing that a quick toasting couldn't have fixed. Head to the Slap and Pickle Instagram feed for more mouth watering pics of this incredible burger.

Becuase burgers and fries are a match made in heaven, and are a speciality of Slap and Pickle, we just had to try some loaded fries. The chili cheese fries were recommended to us, but we wanted to go veggie again, so we opted for the veggie version. These fries were incredible! With seasoned, thin cut crispy fries, topped with spicy bean chilli, hot sauce, crushed nacho chips and home made cheese sauce, these fries were super yum. Unfortuntaley we ate pretty slowly (savouring every bite) and so the fries got a little soggy, but we have learnt from our mistake and on our next visit to Slap and Pickle we will make sure to eat our fries more quickly!

We really enjoyed our meal at Slap and Pickle. Although it wasn't the healthiest option for a Monday night, we left feeling satisfied. The veggie options were tasty and carefully made, making Slap and Pickle a great eatery for veggies, and those doing #MeatFreeMonday. The meat options were well cooked and juicy - no dry patties at this burger joint. We would definately recommend Slap and Pickle - so don't miss out, and head to Assembly Underground now :P
