Pizza at 450 Degrees

Writer: Leeds Food GuideLeeds Food Guide

We were invited to 450 Degrees, an Italian pizza eatery in Garforth. This was the first restaurant we had visited in Garforth and we loved it! The food was true to its Italian routes and the staff were friendly and welcoming. The restaurant itself was homely and shic. We particularly loved the wooden tables and floors, and enjoyed being able to watch our pizza's cooking in the oven! The staff were all really lovely and happy to answer any questions we had about the menu.

The food on offer was varied and true to its Italian routes - simple but well thought out. You can check out the menu below. The restaurant also has a specials menu showcasing new dishes and drinks, and a brunch special for weekends.

We were offered the sharing starter selection (garlic bread and any two other starters) plus the stuffed peppers (which were on special). We loved the hearty garlic and tomato bread which was rich, super garlicky and perfectly cut into sharing size pieces. The feta stuffed peppers were some of the best we have ever tasted - the feta was slightly sweet and characteristically salty, and the peppers melted as they were cut. The classic tomato and mozzarella salad was phenomenal - the cheese was creamy and the tomatoes were so fresh and flavoursome - both were great with the pesto and balsamic dressings. And although very simple, the rocket and Parmesan salad was a great final addition to the starter selection. We loved the presentation of the starters, but did think the use of balsamic dressing could have been reduced as it was on everything!

For mains, we were offered four different pizza's (the Blue One, the Spicy One, the Cheeky pig and a special with pepperoni). We were slightly overwhelmed by all of the pizza's as we were already pretty full after the generous starter selection, but dove in anyway. And, we are so glad we did because the pizza's were delicious.

I loved the mountain of toppings on the Blue One (a vegetarian pizza option). The combination of mushroom, caramelised onion and cheese worked perfectly, and the addition of fresh rocket helped lighten up the dish. I would have liked a handful of crushed walnuts for crunch, but that is just personal preference!

The meaty pizza's were also fab. The smoky pancetta, slightly crispy bacon and rich cheese on the Cheeky One worked so well - we loved the way the oils from the meat melted into the base. We were a little scared by the sound of the Spicy One as we don't usually like spice, but when we started munching, we loved it. The smoky chilli sauce worked really well with the meats, and the cheesy base helped to dampen the heat. The base used for all of the pizza's was great - thin, crispy and well flavoured. The crusts were also ideal for dipping - I enjoyed soaking up balsamic and olive oil with mine.

After almost finishing every slice, we were super full. But when we were asked if we wanted to try the 450 Degree dessert special, a chocolate and berry pizza, we couldn't resist. When it arrived on the table we were amazed. The dessert pizza was piled high with berries and three scoops of ice cream! Just like the pizza's we enjoyed as our main courses, the dessert pizza base was incredible. The chocolate source was creamy and rich, and went perfectly with the fresh berries. I loved the addition of crunchy hazelnuts, and we all agreed that the cold ice cream and hot pizza combo was fab.

We really loved our meal at 450 Degree's. We would highly recommend the restaurant to those looking for a casual pizza place with friendly staff and delicious food. Let us know what you think by commenting on this post, or getting social with us on Instagram, Twitter or Facebook.
