Luigi Italian street food has started its Sebby's kitchen takeover, and they will be there for the next 8 weeks. With Italian favorites such as mushroom aranchini, pesto pasta and bruchetta, this takeover is sure to go down well in Headingley. We visited on opening night and loved every morsel.

We started with the mushroom aranchini which were served with a cheesy dipping sauce. The little balls of hot and steamy deliciousness were incredibly crunchy on the outside, the rice was soft and perfectly cooked, and the center was uber gooey, with a heady cheesy flavor. We made some videos of the oozey aranchi - which you can find on our Instagram story!

As a starter, we also enjoyed the classic Luigi tomato bruchetta. The sourdough bread was crunchy, with a hint of garlic, and the tomatoes were fresh and well seasoned. The drizzle of olive oil just made it even more delicious. Only problem was that it was a little tricky to eat- but this made us smile, and eating should be fun right?!

For our main course we tested out the fresh pasta dishes. We tried the cheesy gnocchi with walnuts (which you can see on Instagram), and the pesto tagliatelle with sourdough (check it out below!). The pasta was rich, and cooked just how we liked it. The bread has absorbed some of the pesto- which meant that it was super yum! I think for me, this was a little plain - I would have loved some veggies, or maybe some chicken thrown in, but in homage to traditional Italian simplicity, I can appreciate the concept of letting simple ingredients sing.

Overall, we had an epic meal. Yes it was very carb heavy, and yes it was pretty simple, but the flavors were incredible. Everything was cooked to perfection, and the Italian passion for great food was evident in every dish.
Head to Sebby's to try these incredible dishes for yourself. Luigi's is in Headingley until May, open Tuesday- Saturday 5pm onwards.
