We enjoyed a surprisingly tasty, beautifully presented meal with impeccable service at Lavanta. Couldn't recommend this mezze bar and grill located in West Park highly enough!

We started with the chefs platter which was incredible. Every element had been carefully made and presented. The dips (hummus, taramasalata, baba ganoush, and tatziki) were packed full of flavour- ideal for dipping into with the homemade bread. The lamb burgers were super juicy, and well seasoned. Even the halloumi, which has a tendancy for being rubbery and tasteless, was soft, and delicious- bathed in a bath of basil and olive oil.

I mean even the beetroot and feta salad was beautiful! Just take a look at that bowl - who wouldn't want to eat every last morsel?!

Despite already being pretty full after the mezze platter when the main course arrived, we had a renewed hunger! We opted for the chefs special of lamb spiced with raz el hanout served with roasted vegetables, cous cous and chickpeas. I was fantastic. Everything was cooked to perfection and deeply flavoured. The pomegranate jewels not only added colour to the dish but also added an element of sweetness that rounded everything off.

We also ordered the mixed fish grill which was not only a super generous portion, but the combination of seas food worked together well, with each fillet seasoned slightly differently. Amazingly each item was cooked fabulously, with flaky fish and soft juicy scallops. The potatoes hidden underneath the fish were equally delicious and made for an excellent accompaniment.

Although we were thoroughly satisfied after our meal, we couldn't refuse dessert. We opted for pistachio baklava which were served with marscapone cream and berries, and freshly brewed mint tea. A fabulous end to an exquisite meal.
